Devlog Announcement! o((>ω< ))o

HELLO MY FELLOW SHIBA!!!! (✿◡‿◡)

This is the current progress that I am making. I'm re-introducing Stage 8 (which has been renamed Extra Stage, despite it has always been considered an Extra Stage). I've improved the cinematics, and make the Danmaku patterns a little bit more interesting.

Remember: the game is still in its Alpha stage (hinted by the versioning on the top-right of the title screen with the lowercase "A"). There's still much more to be done.

To be quite honestly, I haven't been very motivated in the past few weeks or so because of how much of a perfectionist I am. I constantly have to remind to myself that this is an Alpha Build... It's okay if it looks ugly, and it's okay if errors occur.

I opted since the Extra Stage's only viable difficulty mode is "Forsakened", that I remove the Priority System in it's entirety. It's as simple as one flag that checks if the game is accounting for priorities. It was really easy to do. I did this due to the amount of bullets that's on the screen.

The reason for the priority system is for the player to strategically plan their movements based on an enemy's priority. However, you can't do that when that's almost 1K bullets on screen. Truthfully, I think it was for the best to disable the Priority System when in Forsakened mode (or for whenever the designing for ultimately using the Priority System isn't very clear).

So yeah! That's what I've been doing! As you can see, I redrew Maple! Hmmmmmm, but is that a Fake Maple? Well, I'll tell you this now, but she's 100% Maple! Why that is will have to be discovered in due time. It's too early to tell you what this means (I mean... besides the dialogue that goes on). But that doesn't give you enough information. So one day, I'll tell you everything you need to know with regards to what you've seen  so far.  That is if you continue on this silly little journey with me as I try to make this game a reality.

Slowly, but surely, everything will come together. I mean, the Extra Stage is beyond my comprehension. It'd be a lot harder of a stage if Dashing was disabled (which you can do in the "Ease-Of-Play" settings in the Options menu!

So, what does this mean for Tomakunihahaji at this point in time? Obviously, I'm making some progress. It's slow, but I'm going for it. And I haven't given up on this project. Honestly, I can't seem to do that. I want to incorporate some Live2D and some great cinematics and nice UI and just... awesomeness in general. It's hard when you don't have the skills to do everything for a game, especially to this degree. I honestly though this would be easy. It would be if I replaced the girls with space ships like any other generic Danmaku (love you Ikaruga and Danmaku Ultimate). But I want this to be different, yet familiar for everyone. And that's exactly what I plan to do.

Be sure to keep a look out on more Devlog post on here and on Youtube. And don't forget to follow my socials (especially Twitter/X and Threads, because I'm mostly active on those platforms). You'll actually get to see me in the process of working on the game either on the music, art, or UI. Don't forget to do that.

I'll try not to discourage myself anymore than I already have. I can't say specifically when the next Alpha will be. All I can say is that it'll be soon. How soon you must ask? At the very least, this year. Because I'm going to make everything happen as much as I can.

So... just bare with me. And for those who's stuck with me for this far (or for those that are actually interested in this little silly "Touhou At Home" project I'm working on)... Thank you! 💖
